“Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. I’m kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me. Weak is not what you are going to remember about me”
– Al Capone
I have been incredibly blessed to live my life at full throttle, choosing to embrace both my serious and care free side unashamedly. Celebrating every shade of my complexity and refusing to be confined by society’s expectations of who exactly I should be.
This comes with its fair share of complications as one would imagine, for those who encounter my free spirited side first, whether it be through my blog or podcasts. Meet me with a certain set of expectations and limitations on what exactly they feel I can intellectually comprehend.
Please understand I don’t blame people for judging me or anyone else. We all innately wired to come to a conclusion about a person as soon as we set our eyes on them, or in this case google them. However if you are going to agree to debate with someone and then choose to undermine their intelligence because they engage in self-deprecation humour and dare mention the word sex. That is equivalent to pitching up to a gun fight with a knife, foolish.
Which brings me to the following revelation about myself. Nothing in this world makes my blood boil like ignorance, hiding behind the guise of freedom of speech. If you are going to express an uneducated opinion and make your only line of defence “well it’s my opinion, so it can’t be wrong” I hate to break it to you but yes it can. You are entitled to freedom of speech but you are not free from the repercussions of that speech.
We are living in a society whereby every second person can log onto their social media and spew all kinds of unsubstantiated opinions and receive a stamp of approval by those who are too lazy to research or fact check. The worst part is when you call these people out on their BS using concrete facts, they choose to attack your character, because we all know that you cannot possibly be well versed in politics when you a “girl that looks like me” because attractiveness and political acumen are mutually exclusive right?
Oh sorry it’s your opinion, my bad.
Someone once told me “Opinions are like assholes everybody’s got one”
I live my life in the light and leave very little room for negativity in my personal space. This however does not mean that I am a shrinking violet when it comes to my convictions, I will fight ferociously for what’s right regardless of whether your opinion of me changes or not. We live in a time whereby people are trying too hard to be liked and conform to mediocrity instead of speaking against injustice.
We see young women opening their legs on Instagram for likes instead of opening books for knowledge. We burning paintings that represent our history because we are ill informed and easily influenced due to our lack of self-education. Do not merely listen and accept without investigating the validity of your stance.
“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without adopting it as its own”
That is where I will love and leave you folks, so much to say in so little time.
With Love Always
